Frequently Asked Questions

Will the converted DOCX keep the original PDF layout?

Yes — ZentoPDF preserves the visual structure: paragraphs, headings, bullet and numbered lists, bold/italic styling, and the position of inline images. Complex multi-column magazine layouts may be flattened to single-column flow so the text remains editable instead of being trapped inside floating text boxes.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Scanned PDFs are images of text rather than real text, so they will convert but the resulting DOCX will contain images, not editable words. For a fully editable result, first run your scanned PDF through our OCR PDF tool to recognise the text, then convert the OCR’d PDF here.

Is the converter free and signup-free?

Yes. ZentoPDF is completely free with no account, no email and no watermark on the output. You can convert as many PDFs to Word as you want, every day.

Are my files private?

Yes. The conversion happens 100% in your browser using PDF.js, mammoth-style document reconstruction and the docx library — your original PDF and the resulting Word file never leave your device.

Will my fonts be preserved?

ZentoPDF maps fonts to the closest standard Word-compatible family (Calibri, Times New Roman, Arial, Courier New, etc.). If the source PDF embeds an unusual font, the text content is preserved but the font name will be substituted so the document still opens cleanly on any computer.
